What are they? Let’s find out!
1. Wash Makeup Brushes
Now, here’s the first tip for you. Throw away those nasty old sponges and buy yourself a new one regularly. Why? Well, they do contain bacteria and could cause acne breakouts.
Also, always clean your makeup brushes at least once per week. Simply apply some conditioner or baby shampoo and give them a gentle rinse. Are you feeling conscious about bacteria? Add a drop of antiseptic / vinegar to the warm water, let it sit for 20 minutes, and you will be good to go.
2. Use Good Pillowcase
If you are taking care of your skin and it remains dry, check your pillowcase. Did you know that cotton pillowcases can remove the moisture from your skin, resulting in sleep lines and wrinkles in general? Get rid of it and buy yourself a satin or silk one.
Also, never go to bed without washing your face and makeup first. Not only will it clog up facial pores, but it will also dry your skin and prevent it from breathing properly.
3. Moisturize
A good moisturizer will do wonders for your skin; when selected properly (based on your skin type), it will improve the rate at which your skin cell regenerates; in addition, dry skin just looks awful and can become itchy.
Obviously, for dryer skin you need to apply more moisturizer. If you are shopping for one, we also suggest you use an under-eye gel.
What if you are in your 30s or 40s? Get one designed for your age, which is much richer. Also, use a serum which will remove the dark circles and fine lines from your skin.
You may also want to hydrate your skin before applying foundation.
4. Drink Plenty of Water
This one is a pretty obvious one that many chose to ignore, especially in the colder days. Consuming enough water will make your skin glow and improve your overall health and energy levels.
As you might know, water makes up to 65% of your body, so it’s important to keep yourself well-hydrated. Drink 6-10 glasses of water every day, and if you have trouble doing that, carry a water bottle wherever you go and take a few sips from time to time.
Water will also help to eliminate toxins from your body; this reason alone should be enough to drink a glass right now.
5. Don’t Forget Your Body
While many choose to moisturize and take care of their face, don’t be one of those women that forget about their lips. Hydrating your lips will make them look sexier and won’t make them chapped. Just apply some lip balm, and you will be good to go.
What about the rest of your body? Use a good lotion after taking a bath or baby oil.
6. Get Rid of Nasty Habits
Alcohol and especially smoking have devastating effects on your skin. It will cause premature aging, dry up your skin, change its elasticity, and narrow your blood vessels, resulting in reduced blood supply to the skin.
7. Exercise
Did you know that exercise does wonders for your skin? Either go for a 30-60 minute run/walk or hit the gym. Not only will the workouts help to cleanse your skin but also improve the blood flow and improve the overall oxygen levels in your body.
If you don’t feel like hitting a gym, go for something else, meditation, or yoga, as both are shown to improve your skin condition and reduce the overall stress level, which is also bad for your skin and overall well-being.
8. Get Face Masks and Facials Going
You don’t have to go for an SPA treatment or buy expensive face masks (although you can if you can afford to do that frequently).
So what could you do instead? Use gentle, acidic food. Simply apply some natural yogurt mixed with honey (1/2 teaspoon honey with one teaspoon of yogurt) and let it sit for 10-15 minutes; wash it afterward, and you will be good to go.
You may also experiment and add even more acidity to prevent your skin from losing its natural sheen. Add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to the mix and let it rest on your face and neck for around 10-15 minutes.
Try to get a facial at least once a month.
9. Invest In a Sunscreen
Sunscreen lotion is one of the most important things you could apply before going out. Sun has a lot of adverse effects on the skin, resulting in early wrinkles and sunburns. So pick the one that has a high SPF value if you plan to spend a lot of time outdoors and one with a lower value if you are going just for a short walk. Some foundations protect your skin from the sun.
It doesn’t matter how old you are, but for women that are in their 30s or 40s, we recommend picking a sunscreen that has an SPF value of 30 or even higher.
10. Exfoliate Your Skin
When it comes to body exfoliation, which removes dead skills and reveals much healthier skin, there are many different things you can choose from, including:
– A loofah
– An exfoliating glove
– An exfoliation scrub with natural substances
Or simply mix lemon juice with sugar/salt + honey and get that skin clean.
Just don’t use harsh scrubs that contain apricots, as they could cause micro-tears in your skin.
Be careful when exfoliating your face; it has the most delicate skin, and never over-exfoliates.
The image above is a picture of me with zero makeup on. I did not just give myself a facial or just wash my face. This is my normal skin when I first wake up in the morning. I have been told my whole life that I have amazing skin. I mostly think it is part of my genetics; my pale ivory color is definitely from my Spanish grandmother. I also believe I have great skin because I take care of it by only using natural products.
I am too much of a coward to use the medicated face wash, so I stick to face washes that have been in use for decades. I realize all skin types are different, but these are the best products that work for me. This is my weekly skin routine; if you have troublesome skin, I highly recommend you try it out.
1. Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is full of vitamins that help with anti-aging, moisturizing, and skin repair. I put a teaspoon of coconut oil on my face after I get out of the shower. If you decide to use this, do not use a lot of it! Your skin will feel very oily, but if you use only a small amount, it will sink into your skin after about 15 minutes.
2. Exfoliator
Pick one day of the week to exfoliate your skin. Exfoliating is important for your skin to remove excess skin cells and cleanse your face. Over-exfoliating is a real thing and can leave your face dry. After I exfoliate, I still put on my coconut oil as usual.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar
The high acidity in this vinegar helps the skin balance between dry and oily. I notice this stuff works if you feel a zit coming on, all you do is spray it with this magical wash, and the little red dot will be gone by morning. I only use it when I notice I am breaking out. When that happens, I trade my coconut oil for apple cider vinegar for a couple of days until the breakout has gone away.
This stuff smells potent, though; I found the best way to use it is by putting it into a spray bottle and directly spraying your face. If you use a washcloth, the stench will never come out! Consider yourself warned.
4. Lip Exfoliator
My biggest pet peeve in this world is chapped lips. The feeling of my lips cracking from the cold is the absolute worst, so I take extra precautions when dealing with them. I keep these handy lip-savors right on my nightstand. Every other night or so, I exfoliate my lips with LUSH lip scrub, then put on their lip service lip balm right before I go to sleep.
These make my lips feel so amazingly soft and keep my lips feeling that way the whole day afterward. When it comes to skin, people always forget that your lips are one of the most sensitive parts and take just as much attention as your cheeks do. Do not be one of those people!
5. Toothpaste
The core ingredients, Toothpaste consists of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and triclosan, which help dry out problem spot pimples.
The most wonderful time of the year comes with not-so-wonderful side effects. When the sun goes away and the overcast begins, your hair, skin, nails, and health may start to fall with the snow. Do not let winter beat you in beauty! Stay as flawless as the sun-kissed summer you with these commonly forgotten winter beauty tips.
1. Reminding to Moisturize
Moisturize everything! Arms, legs, face, the whole thing! I cannot stress the importance of moisturizing in the wintertime. The chilly air dries out your skin and, over time, can lead to you becoming more wrinkled in old age! Aging is hard enough already, so make sure you moisturize your treasured, young skin!
Bonus points if you use a face moisturizer with SPF. It may be cold, but the sun can still strike you. Dodge the awkward sunburn altogether and use a moisturizer with sun protectant.
2. Drink Plenty of Water
When it is a hot day, it is easier to remember to drink a cold glass of water to cool your body down, but your body still needs the same amount of water in winter! I know drinking a cold glass of water when it is cold outside sounds undesirable, so opt for a warm cup of tea or hot cocoa. Not only is staying hydrated important for your health, but it is also important for your skin. Moisturizing daily may not cut it if your body is craving liquids.
3. Use Heated Hair Styling Tools Less Frequently
Winter dries everything out, including hair. Although doing hair masks and using products can help reduce the damage, using your heated hair styling less frequently helps a lot more.
The dryness of the winter hair takes a toll on your locks. Don’t put your hair in any more pain, and stop using your straightener every day. It is hat season! Embrace it! Put your messy ringlets into a cute, snuggly beanie instead of styling it to perfection with your blow dryer. Your hair will thank you for it!
4. Carry Chapstick 24/7
Cracked lips hurt and ruin the look of your lipstick. Put some chapstick in your purse so whenever you feel the cracking coming on, you can fight back! If you already have chapped lips and want to help reverse the damage, try a lip exfoliator. They usually taste amazing and make your lips feel like a bed of pillows. So your lips will be ready the next time you get caught under the mistletoe!
5. Switch to a More Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner
When white flakes fall from the sky, they are beautiful. When white flakes fall from your head, they are gross. To avoid a dry scalp, switch to a more hydrating shampoo and conditioner. Plenty of name-brand hair products have a special hydrating blend. Make the change to escape snow falling from your head.

Heck, some of these facials sound so tasty that you will want to drink them. For example, freshly squeezed lemon juice or honey and green tea.

Patchouli oil is not only good for balancing your “chi,” as the ancient Chinese would have said. It is also great for rejuvenation, healing, and anti-inflammatory properties, making it your best bet when battling a sunburn.

Putting Oatmeal all over a rash may sound silly, but the soothing quality of oats has been no laughing matter.
How do you eliminate the dark circles? Try using:
1. Potatoes
Raw-cut potatoes are one of the best cures for under-eye circles. They have natural bleaching ingredients that zap away your constant tired look.
2. Almond Oil
Almond Oil is rich in Vitamin E, a natural bleacher. Lightly apply this daily to see a gradual change in pigment.
3. Rose Water
Just like Apple Cider Vinegar, Rose Water is natural skin toner that will help overall even your skin tone out. If you are tired of your uneven complexion, this is your answer.
How do you treat the skin cut? Use:
1. Spearmint Oil
If you want to care for a cut nontraditionally, spearmint will do the job. The detoxifying ingredients help soothe possible pain.
2. Juniper Berries
Juniper berries help blood clot faster when applied directly to the wound. Filled with antibacterial and antiseptic ingredients, your wound will more than likely not get infected with the help of this berry.
3. Lavender
It has a lot of the same properties as juniper berries. Lavender has been known to help disinfect a cut and help it heal faster.
4. Tea Tree Oil
Along with the others, Tea Tree Oil is loaded with antiseptic and antibacterial, helping kill all the germs in a cut.
